You must be using these listing sites to help Google rank your business so your target audience can find you. Here are a few examples for each category:

  • Local search engines: Google Business, Yahoo! Local, and Merchant Circle.
  • Social networking sites: Facebook, Foursquare, Yelp! and Twitter.
  • Internet local directories: Citysearch.com and Kudzu.
  • Online business directories (Region specific): BuiltIn and Business Magazine.
  • Online directory assistance sites: 411.com, and Whitepages.
  • A quick tip: MOZ local is a great tool to organize all these listings.

Ebooks, reports, checklists, and industry faces and figures. It’s simple, people like free things, however those free offers need to provide tangible value to your prospects.

Social media channels are a great opportunity to promote your site’s blog content and nurture a relationship with your readers. Channels like Facebook and LinkedIn are great platforms to promote long-form content in particular.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is shifting to a topic cluster model, where a single “pillar” page acts as the main hub of content for an umbrella topic and multiple content pages that are related to that same topic link back to the pillar page and each other.

This linking action signals to search engines that the pillar page is an authority on the topic, and over time, the page may rank higher and higher for the topic it covers. The topic cluster model is a way of organizing a site’s content pages using a cleaner and more deliberate site architecture.

Any one of these tips will help your website to generate more traffic, it may not be quick, but you’ll find compounding results through consistency. Follow them all and you’ll be on your way to generating better-qualified leads and a more predictable revenue stream for your business.
